Elly and Tim | A Lanesborough Hotel Wedding, London

Elly and Tim’s Lanesborough Hotel wedding took place one sunny day in London only a few weeks ago. I arrived very early, as I always do, and was welcomed into Elly’s family as they began to prepare for their ceremony. Elly was so calm, and radiated happiness at the prospect of marrying her best friend Tim. It was a privilege to be sharing the day with such delightful people.

I do have a bit of previous here – I photographed Tim’s brother Rupert at his wedding to Lalani a couple of years ago at The Hurlingham Club, and it was brilliant to see them again.

This day was to be a precursor to a bigger celebration next year, so for now it was to be the wedding ceremony and Afternoon Tea for a small number of close family and friends. I often come away from weddings with a word in my mind that sums up the day – here it was Elegant. This Lanesborough Hotel wedding evoked elegance, and everything around and about Elly oozed elegance – her dress, the morning suits, the flowers, and even the afternoon tea.

So this was a small but perfectly formed wedding day – and no less emotional for that. Love was all around, and as you’ll see from some of the images below, it showed.

Georgina and Chris | Pre-wedding Portraits

I often say to my clients that it rarely rains all day, which is true, even for London weddings! But on the day of Georgina and Chris’ pre-wedding shoot, it rained, and rained, and rained. We got wet. But it added another dimension to the shoot, and I think it was a better session for it – we were thinking on our feet, running from one shelter to another, dodging the raindrops.

Georgina and Chris live in Shoreditch, the same area where I had my studio, so it was good to be back in my old stamping ground, and also to see how much has changed – there’s a lot more good coffee around now! So this was a very urban portrait session which I thoroughly enjoyed – it’s good to have a few rough edges to add drama to an image. And there’s passion here too.

Here are a few favourites from the day.
