Carla and Stuart | Shendish Manor | Hertfordshire Weddings

Carla and Stuart were brave enough to hold out for an outdoor ceremony, and were rewarded with a brilliant summer’s day. Hertfordshire weddings have been as unpredictable weather-wise as anywhere, so it was a last minute call to have the chuppah outside. Shendish Manor is an ideal wedding venue, especially for big Jewish weddings like this, where space is available indoors and out.

It was a day of laughter and tears, and it’s always a privilege to witness the love between friends and families, fathers and daughters, mums and sons. Carla couldn’t hold back the tears as her dad came to wish her well, and Stuart couldn’t either as he drew the veil over Carla at the bedekken. So out of the getting ready chaos emerged a beautiful bride, and into the sunshine she stepped to be married, with tears of joy to follow.

As with every Jewish wedding that I have photographed, including many Hertfordshire weddings, I am never restricted in photographing the signing of the register. It’s always a relief, as English weddings whether church or civil, make such a fuss about it. In fact we created one of my favourite images of this summer, with a dramatic outdoor wide shot in black and white of the register signing.

As I’m sure you know, dancing is big part of Jewish weddings, and Dana and I got stuck right into the heart of the action, to document the passion, the fire, the intensity of the fast and furious dancing! You can’t do it from a distance – you have to be in there! So we take the bumps and knocks to bring you the action! We love it, and I hope you enjoy this selection from Carla and Stuart’s most excellent day.

Talia and Michael | Pre-wedding Portraits

What a contrast from the last pre-wedding portraits session – blazing sunshine!

I met Talia and Michael at their wedding venue, The Auberge du Lac on the Brocket Hall Estate, the perfect place for Hertfordshire weddings. I know the venue well, as I am one of the preferred suppliers there. The grounds are a gift to photographers, and wedding couples too of course, and so we ambled off to get used to cameras clicking. I have to say, Talia and Michael’s initial nerves went by the third frame, (I was counting!) and we had a lot of laughs as we enjoyed the views across the lakes and golf course.

Here are some of my faves from our session.
