A St Bartholomew’s Wedding
Ed and Jacinta’s St Bartholomew’s wedding was full-on fun from the word go, probably because a large number of those present are Australian, and those Aussies sure know how to party. Perhaps high spirits were also explained by Ed being a wine lover and wine buyer for a London firm, as were a large number of his mates. It all added up to a raucous day, well, with the exception of the ceremony, which, as it was a St Bartholomew’s wedding, meant everyone had to behave, which of course they did, in one of the oldest and atmospheric churches in London.
The added bonus for me was that I know Ed from way back – his dad Richard and I are old friends, and when I used to do editorial work, Richard and I were sent all over the place to write about and photograph celebrities for the colour supplements and the weekly magazines. On several occasions we set up interviews and shoots in New York and Los Angeles, and sometimes it was possible to combine work with pleasure and make a family holiday out of the trip. So I got to know the family, and it was an honour to be asked to photograph Ed and Jacinta’s wedding ceremony some years later.
The reception was held in the magnificent Hawksmoor wine and steak restaurant in Guildhall, which gave us an opportunity to take some portraits of the couple outside in the Guildhall area of London. Then Ed and Jacinta plunged down into the subterranean eatery for their drinks reception, wine, steak, and more wine! The speeches were emotional and good humoured, and all those speaking had a brilliant audience to play to. By the time the dancing started, everyone was ready to throw some shapes and boogie the night away!
If you like the way we work with my lovely clients, and the mostly documentary photography approach we have, then we may be a good fit for you. Please do get in touch to discuss your plans.
