This is a proposed design for Poppy and Boz. It’s a lovely 12″ x 12″ hand-made Finao flush-mount album. This style has the photographs mounted on thin card right up to the edges of each page, hence flush to the edge. The prints are still original photographic prints, so the album will still need to be handled with respect.
The design possibilities are more varied with this style of album – an obvious one is the ability to have images going right across the gutter, with no break or gap, just a subtle crease. Images can go right to the edges, and be placed closer together, or butt up against each other, or even overlap.
I choose to keep my designs simple and uncluttered, but the possibility exists with this style of album to have any graphic effect, such as one image fading into another, coloured backgrounds, and elaborate borders. I prefer my images to have space to breathe, and stand up on their own merit, with lots of white space, much like the elegant traditional matted albums.
Here is a slideshow of Poppy and Boz’ trial album design – let me know what you think.
