Image of the Week #12

It’s a complete pleasure being a Hertfordshire photographer, and I’m lucky enough to live in the historic city of St Albans, surrounded by beautiful countryside. My Image of the Week was taken on one of the rare occasions that the lake in Verulam Park freezes enough to skate on. I’ve done it myself a couple of times, it’s a fantastic feeling to skate right round the island. Scary and thrilling at the same time.

These boys had no nerves at all about stepping onto the ice, and organised an ice hockey game. As the saying goes, the best camera is the one you have with you, and this is another example of the amazing ability of the iPhone. Processed to black and white and cropped in the phone, sharpened a little in Photoshop, the shot is a nice example of landscape and action combined!
