Lizzie and Patrick were married at the cosy and atmospheric Auberge du Lac restaurant, a superb wedding venue on the Brocket Hall Estate in Hertfordshire. Phil Thompson is the Michelin starred chef, and the food was, of course, delicious!
The Auberge is perfect for my contemporary style of photography, combining reportage and natural photography with traditional groups and portraits. Lizzie and Patrick had allowed plenty of time during their reception to go with us to create some beautiful portraits of them in the grounds of the Auberge and Brocket Hall estate.
The day started with Lizzie and her sister Helen getting ready together at Melbourn Lodge, then the short drive down the hill to the Auberge, where Patrick was ready and waiting! The tiny ceremony room holds about twelve people, with the remaining guests sitting in the cooler area beyond the arched ceiling.
The day was hot and bright, so the parasols on the terrace offered welcome shade for canapés. The speeches were excellent, with Patrick being ribbed by his best man Kam showing photos that Patrick might not have wanted to see, but everyone else loved!
The excellent day ended with spectacular fireworks out over the golf course.
