Naomi and Ben | A Pre-wedding Photofilm

The Wedding Photofilm is to become a big part of my working practice as a wedding and portrait photographer. The added impact of hearing as well as seeing couples on the most important days of their lives is a powerful and emotional addition to the stills photography I shoot.

All my commissioned work this year will feature recorded sound in some capacity. I say that only as I am trialling new sound recording techniques as I go, and inevitably there will be a few, well, below standard outcomes. But this is all good, as without trying new things we won’t move forward and grow. It goes without saying that the photography is always the priority in every case, and the sound recording fits into our workflow around the photographs.

So here is my pre-Wedding Photofilm of Naomi and Ben’s pre-wedding portraits, taken on a chilly day in Verulam Park in sunny St Albans. They are a great couple to work with, happy being together, and happy in front of the camera, and I’m really looking forward to their wedding in May.

PhotoFilms | Elizabeth and Paul’s Pre-wedding Portraits

I  am planning to record sound at several of my wedding and pre-wedding portraits shoots this year. This is an exciting new direction for me – Sound! Just a few recorded words to start with, edited and added to a slideshow with music. Beautiful! As I get the hang of it, I’ll start recording the marriage vows and speeches. The impact of strong photography combined with emotionally spoken words is very powerful.

These images are of my delightful clients Elizabeth and Paul, whose wedding is to take place this summer. We had a great morning together, in the frost (and mud!) up at the woods near Sarratt, in sunny Hertfordshire. I always enjoy pre-wedding portraits sessions as they have no agenda, other than getting to know each other while taking a few relaxed portraits. We had the weather on our side, and bearing in mind the quantities of snow we are having, we were fortunate!

As always, do leave a comment, and if you’d like to discuss any aspect of my wedding photography, don’t hesitate to contact me.

In fact, here is Elizabeth’s comment, to start you off.
