As Hertfordshire wedding photographers, and used to photographing in big cities, I found myself in Rome having a short break with Amanda to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary. 30 years. Well, we did marry very young. We’re still having a blast, doesn’t quite feel like yesterday, perhaps a bit more like last week. But still going strong.
Rome is one of the most beautiful cities I’ve ever seen, busy, hot, passionate, artistic, full of contrasts, an architectural icon wherever you look. Nuns and priests everywhere. Strolling around one day, we came across four weddings – what a fabulous backdrop for a wedding photographer. It felt like the guests were all Mafiosi. I was momentarily envious, and wondered about the practicalities of moving to Rome and setting up shop there. Just for a second.
We walked and talked, being tourists and enjoying it, rode the Metro, buses, and walked more. It’s the best way to feel a city, on your feet, amongst the people. Love was in the air, I could feel it…
