Claire and Alex | Wrest Park Weddings | Wedding photography in Bedfordshire
September 13, 2012
Anyone photographing Wrest Park weddings is in for a treat! The house and grounds of Wrest Park are excellent, and then you have wonderful buildings and grottos and bridges and monuments and and and… We had a ball, and for Claire and Alex’s portraits we actually had to restrict ourselves during their wedding, as we could have played all day.
The wedding ceremony took place at St Andrew’s Church, and it was a relief to be allowed to respectfully photograph during the ceremony. We have had an unusually high number on complete refusals this year in C of E churches, and here the vicar here was happy for us to discretely photograph during the ceremony. We don’t need to take many – the exchanging of rings, and the first kiss as Mr and Mrs are the key shots. And the anxious groom awaiting his bride, of course. So we were happy, as were Claire and Alex as they came out into brilliant sunshine to be congratulated by all their guests. Everyone was keen to throw their confetti, and we were happy to assist in setting that up.
Then on to Wrest Park. Although it was still open to the public, it’s such a big site that you could hardly see anyone. For Wrest Park weddings, the gardens are exclusively for the guests, and we had booked a buggy for our portrait session to get us to the distant pavillion, so we were very excited! You’ll see below that we hardly scratched the surface of possibilities for Wrest Park weddings, in that there is just so much to photograph.
So we got our skates on and whizzed round in the buggy, and just about got Claire and Alex back in time for their wedding breakfast, set out in the elegant Orangery, flooded with sunlight, perfectly complimenting Claire’s sunflowery styling. Her dad had grown all the seedlings that decorated the tables, which the guests were invited to keep when they left. The celebrations were completed with some excellent speeches, and a terrific band to dance to.
Here are just a few of the many best bits…
