Bristol Weddings and couples portraits

Bristol Weddings

I’ve been lucky enough to shoot several weddings in Bristol over the last year. I feel like the city and I are getting acquainted – the roads don’t look so unfamiliar, I can walk around the city centre without getting disorientated, hotels, restaurants and bars are becoming old friends. My daughter lives there too, so visiting for work or family is becoming more frequent. Bristol weddings have their own special charm, as do the Bristolians who attend them – a fun, quirky, independently minded bunch of free-thinkers and eccentrics – just my kind of people.

A Photographer’s Photographer

This Bristol wedding is one of my favourites from the last year. The bride, Ren, is the daughter of one of my oldest photographer friends Jim, who I’ve know since our time at The London College of Printing, where we both studied photography. Photographing a photographer’s wedding always has an extra layer of responsibility – photographing the daughter of a photographer’s wedding is like photographing the Pope or the Queen – a rare and special moment of privilege and trust. As dads, of course, we adore our daughters, and only want for them to be as happy as they can be. Ren and Chris’ wedding day was one of the happiest and moving weddings that I have had the honour of witnessing.

Documentary Wedding Photography

My photographic style is mostly documentary, so I record everything as it happens, without making myself obvious or influencing how things go. My Fuji XPro2 cameras are completely silent, so not only did I impress the vicar at St Stephen’s, but no-one else heard any tell-tale clicks as I worked. Which means I can get up close and personal without being intrusive, and that means I can record real moments of emotion and intensity.

So here is Ren and Chris’ wedding day story, from bridal prep right through to the first dance – a roller-coaster of a day!

“We were impressed with our slideshow, but the full collection was even better! All the images are fantastic. You captured so many really great moments!” Ren and Chris
