Asian Wedding | Nisha and Nishal | Hindu Ceremony Part One

May 10, 2012

This is my second full Asian wedding ceremony, and I adore the colour, the ceremony, the laughter and love that is so powerful on these occasions. Nisha and Nishal’s wedding ceremony took place over four days, with henna decorations and blessings on the first two days, and the wedding ceremonies on the third day, and finally the reception on the fourth day.

I love documenting weddings, and there are so many moments, nuances almost, to record.  Big entrances, tiny details, turmeric, stolen shoes, money exchanged, happiness and sadness. Music, singing, gifts, love and blessings from all the family. Nisha looked amazing in her dresses and saris, and Nishal looked great both in morning dress and Indian dress! There was so much for the couple to take in over all the ceremonies, but the Hindu priest guided them (and me!) with kindness and dignity.

Here are (really) just a few images from the first two days of the wedding celebrations – we did take a lot of pictures! Images from the next two days will be in the following post.

A very rich & colourful wedding ceremony to document Steve. Still hoping to cover my first Hindu ceremony, but sure it will come in time. A photographers dream wedding with so much to capture - great job!
