I have to confess that I always find it hard to define my style – and I’m often asked. I always shoot with my associate photographer, and we shoot around each other, looking for different angles with different lenses. Together our day’s photography will be a high percentage of reportage photography – photographing moments as they happen. We will always include some family groups, and some beautiful portraits taken at suitable moments throughout the day. You can read more about my photographic style here.
I’m always looking for shapes and structure in images – I love framing my subject within a big space. My associate loves detail, anything dressy or floral will catch her eye. We both love people, and we often have sore faces at the end of a wedding from all the smiling we do. We use a combination of reactive and proactive photography – reacting to situations or anticipating them so as to be in the right place at the right time to record the moment – and being proactive in sometimes suggesting moving to a more photogenic area to create a wonderful picture.
I avoid techniques that date quickly – tilting the camera, spot colour, and excessive Photoshop work. Having said that, every photograph presented to our clients is fully prepared for printing, with subtle enhancement to bring out the best elements of the image. Our wedding albums are among the best in the world, and you can see some details of them here.
I want the images we create to be as beautiful in ten or twenty or fifty years time as they are now. I look forward to meeting with you to hear all about your wedding plans. If you like to discuss the kind of photography I can do for you at your wedding, please contact us to arrange a meeting.
