Jo and Simon

Phew, just about keeping up with everything. Jo and Simon’s day was full up and full on! Being a young and beautiful couple, they chose two old venues for their celebrations – the very ancient Bevis Marks Synagogue in The City of London, and the wonderful and still original Troxy, a 1930s cinema theatre. With fabulous food from Simon’s own catering company, The Recipe, and fabulous sounds from The All Stars it really was a big hot party!

Dunstable Downs

Dunstable Downs is our nearest bit of beach – except the sea went out a few million years ago and didn’t come back in. It is a great place to go to get a view, which in Hertfordshire is quite unusual. (As a cyclist, I know Herts is definitely not flat, but good high ridges are rare). I always imagine standing on the Downs and looking out to sea. The hill is chalk, which as you know, is made up of billions of tiny sea creatures. I love the colours at this time of year – the height of summer. Amanda and I headed up there today for a breather with Jazz the dog, and stomped around for a bit watching the gliders, kites, hang gliders, people with dogs, ice creams and picnics. And a Cinnabar moth and hundreds of it’s yellow and black caterpillers. It was all lovely…

Alex and Robert

Our very good friends Alex and Robert decided to get married again exactly 25 years to the day after their first celebration. The first time round was a civil service, but this time it was a Jewish ceremony, under the chuppah. It was a simple and informal occasion, and I was expressly asked by Robert not to bring a camera. Well, really! So these are a few shots from the sidelines, which makes a change as normally I have the best seat in the house at a wedding! You’ll see Alex and Robert here with Georgina and Oliver, their children, pretty much the exact contemporaries of our girls, Eleanor and Maddy. Gritty black and white seems to suit the reportage approach, the images shot on my little G9…
