A big part of our family is our dog Jazz. We got her from a rescue centre about seven years ago. She’d been left there by a family who already had another dog, and then had a baby, and found that Jazz was one person too many in the house. The family had in turn rescued her from travellers, who had kicked and beaten her as a puppy, something which I’m sure Jazz remembers even now.
We know that she’s not good near feet, puppies or young children, and she’ll go to great lengths to avoid any of these. Despite her early upbringing, she is a great people dog, bright and well up for whatever is going on. My routine is to walk her twice a day, and that can be a great respite from the many hours I spend staring at the computer screen. We are very lucky here to have loads of great walks nearby, the park around St Albans Abbey is her usual run.
